So as I've been fighting some sort of chest/head cold which is now demanding antibiotics and an inhaler - I've learned alot about steel I-Beams today thanks to the folks at Renaud Brothers Construction (http://www.renaudbrothers.net/) - who will be supplying the steel for my container house foundation. They also had some steel in the yard left over from another project - so i got what i feel is a great deal, and keeps the $$ in Vermont. Got to visit their location in Vernon where I also got to see the 75 ton crane which will be coming to place my containers soon!
Granite post in Rockport, MA close to being done. being installed a week from today here in Vermont.
2.5 days. 13 piers - each able to hold 30,000 pounds. some more excavation work cause, well. it's Vermont and the soil is rocky. Next step is I-Beams. two 10' and 3 20'. then it's crane time - 75 tons of crane coming to drop the containers into place. SOOOOOONN!
Zach LaPorte from Techno Metal Post's installed the first of 13 piers as a test drill the other day. under 10 minutes to sink 10'
